I really love to travel around the world, it is one of my most favorite things to do. So naturally I like all things travel, like luggage and airports just to name a few. In the airport you check your bags under the plane, when you get to your finial destination you go to the baggage claim to get your luggage. Now when I travel I put colorful tags on my bags so I can easily spot them. I know they belong to me, and I won't pick up someone elses bag...that would be embarrassing!
So did you know that people claim "baggage" all the time that's not theirs? Actually it's safe to say that most of the population does.
You can ask anyone how they are and most of the time they will answer with some thing like this:
"My allergies are acting up again"
"My anxiety is so bad"
"My arthritis is making it really hard to do things"
"Can you pray for my sickness?"
I actually heard all of those things today. Can you find a common thread? When those people spoke the word "my", it caught my attention right away. Without even knowing it, they are claiming things that aren't theirs. They are at the spiritual baggage claim picking up things that aren't theirs to have.
I have been learning more and more that what comes out of our mouths are way more important that we have ever realized. Every word creates. So if we are claiming sickness and other baggage all the time with our words, then we are harming our selves without even realizing it! I encourage you to join me in changing the way we speak, about ourselves and about others.
So the next time you are at the "baggage claim", only grab blessings, the things that the really do belong to you!
Every.Word.Counts.
